Steelhead
The Rogue summer steelhead run is from July through December peaking in September and October. The winter run peaks February and March.
The south fork of the Umpqua River is an excellent winter steelhead river. The season starts in December and lasts a few months.
Trout
Dry fly fishing on the Upper Rogue during the annual stonefly hatch can be amazing. The hatch that lasts for a couple weeks, keep the trout (rainbow, cutthroat and the occasional adult steelhead) looking up. During the fall and winter months BWO hatches are fairly consistant and the March Browns come on late February and March.
Smallmouth Bass
The South and main Umpqua provides a great opertunity to catch smallmouth on a fly rod. The season is at its best in July and August.
Howard Prairie and Emigrant Lake’s are good for smallies all summer long. Lost Creek Lake is excellent dry fly fishing for the bronzebacks during the Stonefly hatch in late May and June.
