Rainbow Trout fishing with Captain Brian

Got to host Captain Brian Vaughn at Diamond Lake this week. Brian owns and operates Off The Hook Charters in Hilton Head, SC. We had a great time catching nice Rainbows and one dead bird (the bird was FOUL hooked!).

Brian beak hooked and landed this diving bird on a slow retrieve. It didn’t fight much, it was dead and had an old Zebco rod and reel attached (which is probably what killed it in the first place).

If you’re on the East coast and want to do some flats fishing, Brian’s your man. Reds, Speckled Sea Trout, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Sharks and Tarpon!

It’s been a great Spring…..

The Stonefly hatch on the Rogue, casting big dries to hungry trout and steelhead. Wind drifting buggers and Damsel patterns, chronomids and nymphs under an indicator on the lakes. It’s a very good time of the year.

Now the steelhead are starting to populate the upper river, it will soon be time to target these beauties. Nymphing or swinging are both popular methods.

Let’s get out and get after them.
